MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
SUEANN FRENCH
Almost every morning Sueann French comes to the YMCA to maintain her fitness health. She attends Early Morning Boot Camp, runs on the treadmill, lifts weights, and when not attending the Early Morning Boot Camp she joins a group of other YMCA members in the Jazzercise room to do an Insanity routine.
The activities she does at the Y help her to live actively outside of the Y. As a dedicated runner in events like the Dam to Dam Half-Marathon in Des Moines, Tree Run Half-Marathon Nebraska City, and Market to Market Iowa to name a few, her consistent exercise routine has paid dividends. She is currently gearing up for The Gambler Half-Marathon in Council Bluffs.
Sueann is also a source of inspiration to the kids she coaches in High School Cross Country and was ecstatic when both the girls and boys teams made it to the State finals last year. She will also be coaching the Boys Track Team and is looking forward to it.
As she expressed in a recent e-mail, “I like the YMCA because it’s easy and fast. I love the new equipment and there is plenty of space to do my Insanity videos in the Jazzercise room. The YMCA has all the equipment you need to get a great workout!!!“

VOLUNTEER WEEK
NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK is
April 20th - 28th, 2015
THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!
These caring people deserve recognition for the priceless contributions they make and National Volunteer Week provides a great opportunity for us to honor them. Ever since President Richard Nixon proclaimed the first National Volunteer Week in 1974, it’s been celebrated annually as a way to acknowledge the service of our generous volunteers. During this week thousands of organizations like ours make time for a special word of thanks, gifts, luncheons, and other creative expressions of our gratitude!
For more information on how you can become a volunteer, call 712-623-2161 ext.13 and visit with Nick Zimmer, Executive Director of the Montgomery County Family YMCA, visit the YMCA, check us out on Facebook, or visit our website page at www.mcymca.com.
VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH
TAX SALE VOLUNTEERS
The Tax Sale in Nebraska raised over $3,500 due to the valuable help provided by the following volunteers: Lincoln–Nick & Nancy Zimmer, Rev. George Hooper, John Blomstedt, Al Nelson, Allen Pohren, Jerry & Helen Zimmer, Larry & Faye Brandstetter, Julie White, Bill & Mary Jane Gilbert, Dr. Richard Trinity, Tom & Ann Iverson, and Darrell Fenton and Papillion-Patricia Neal, Mike Olson, David Foss, Todd Gilleland, Karen Blue, Tom Burkhiser, Karla Hall, Rev. Fred Pilecki, and JC Blomstedt.
A strong partnership between volunteers and staff is at the heart of YMCAs, where volunteer development is everyone’s job and where meaningful volunteer opportunities and operational strategies are in place to support program volunteers.
The Montgomery County Family YMCA's mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all! We provide health and wellness, youth sports, senior programs, teen programs, aquatics, and group exercise instruction. In our 66,000 sq. /ft. state of the art facility we serve over 917 households with membership totaling over 2,338.
ANNUAL CAMPAIGN
The Montgomery County Family YMCA’s Annual Campaign Is designed so that everyone in Montgomery County and throughout the area has access to vital community/area programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
This year, the Montgomery County Family YMCA campaign goal is to raise $55,000 with $22,163.80 having been raised so far.
Funds raised will support a wide range of activities from athletics to summer day camp. The Y doesn’t just strengthen bodies – it strengthens people, families and communities.

SPRING CLEANING
Don’t miss out on helping with our 1st Annual Spring Cleaning Saturday on April 18th, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the YMCA. All volunteers will be treated to a free lunch at Noon. Work might go into early afternoon depending on the number of volunteers assisting with the day.
Volunteers are asked to wear yard clothes, gloves, and hats. Also, bring any of the listed items: push mower or riding mower with a bagger, outside push broom, gas trimmers, extra extension cords, extra water hoses with spray controller, or tree branch cutters. We just want to continue to keep our YMCA, Legion Park area, and community as beautiful as possible.
This would be a great opportunity for a family, youth, adults, couples, retirees, church groups, and scouting organizations to be involved in giving back to the Montgomery County Family YMCA. All are welcome at any time, all help is greatly appreciated!
Volunteering is one of the essential ways the Y engages people to bring about meaningful change in building our community.
Please RSVP by Tuesday, April 13th, 2015 to Nick Zimmer, Executive Director at 712-623-2161 ext. 13, by e-mail at execdir@mcymca.com, visit the YMCA’s website at www.mcymca.com, visit the YMCA’s Facebook page, or visit the facility at 101 E. Cherry St. in Red Oak.
