Montgomery County Family YMCA Press Release (Red Oak, Iowa)
YMCA News for Immediate Release- Wednesday,  May 14th, 2014

The Montgomery County Family YMCA announces its plans for a Facility Enhancement Campaign to replace the circuit training equipment in the Bulkeley Wellness Center. The planning committee has an anticipated completion date for the total project of August 20, 2014.

In October 2013, the YMCA was awarded a $32,500 1:1 matching grant with the Iowa West Foundation for the Wellness Center project. The YMCA’s goal is to raise $90,000 to complete all phases of this project. To date, the YMCA has raised $77,000.

Despite being well maintained the current equipment in the Wellness Center has been utilized since 2000.  The manufacturer of the equipment is no longer operational which has made it extremely difficult to obtain necessary replacement parts.  Along with the changing technology in regards to wellness equipment, the YMCA has made the move to bring in new equipment to assist its members from Jr. High School students to older active adults with their personal wellness & fitness needs. In addition to the equipment replacement, the YMCA would like to replace the flooring and lighting as part of the new look to the Bulkeley Wellness Center.

The YMCA will kickoff the public giving phase of the facility enhancement campaign later this month by asking YMCA members, community and area residents to support this project that will benefit individuals from Jr. High School students to older active adults.
