Live Healthy Iowa “Fun Walk” Results

RE: Live Healthy Iowa “Fun Walk” Results
The 6th Annual Live Healthy Iowa “Fun Walk” was held on Saturday, April 6 originating at the YMCA. Participants in the Fun Walk were able to walk or run a predetermined two mile course in the neighborhood surrounding the YMCA or use the YMCA’s indoor track. A drawing was held for a $20 and a $10 Red Oak Buck Certificates and two $25 Y-Buck Certificates at the completion of the walk.
Winner of the $20 Red Oak Chamber Buck Certificates was Diane Brower of Red Oak.
Winner of the $10 Red Oak Chamber Buck Certificates was Deb Blomstedt of Red Oak.
Winners of the $25 Y-Buck Certificates were Nancy Zimmer and Madison White of Red Oak.
There were 18 teams comprised of over 100 individuals participated in this year’s Live Healthy Iowa program which is coordinated by the Montgomery County Family YMCA, and cosponsored by the Red Oak HyVee and the Montgomery County Family YMCA.

Win a Free Two-Nights Stay in a 3-Bedroom Cabin in Colorado!

The Montgomery County Family YMCA is sponsoring a drawing for a FREE two-nights stay in a 3 bedroom cabin in either YMCA Snow Mountain or Estes Park Center in Colorado. you can use the offer anytime between September 1, 2013 and December 31st, 2013. Tickets can be purchased at the Montgomery Conty Family YMCA in Red Oak. The winning name will be drawn on Friday, July 26th, 2013 and you need not be present to win. Eveeryone is eligible.
Proceeds will benefit the YMCA's "Membership for Everyone" program that is designed to assist financially disadvantaged children and their families who otherwise would not be able to become members or enjoy programs at the Y. Get your tickets from any Y staff or Board Member or at the front desk at the Y, 101 East Cherry Street, Red Oak, Iowa.

YMCA Recipient of a $10,000 Montgomery County Community Foundation Advisory Grant

The Montgomery County Family YMCA of Red Oak, Iowa recently learned that the YMCA was a recipient of a $10,000 Montgomery County Community Foundation Advisory Grant made possible by the Montgomery County HF 2302 Grant Fund.
This grant will be used to enhance members of the YMCA and guest experience with new plastic lockers that will be a phased in project over the next two to possibly three years for all three locker rooms of the Montgomery County Family YMCA’s men’s / boy’s , women’s / girl’s and family special needs locker rooms. The new plastic lockers will enhance our all our members and guests experience of all ages while using and enjoying the Montgomery County Family YMCA. The new lockers are maintenance free so will assist the YMCA in lowering some maintenance cost for repairs and care of the current metal lockers that are approaching 13 years of facility usage.
The goal of the Montgomery County Community Foundation grant program is to improve the quality of life in the county by supporting needs that are not being met in the areas of civic, cultural, health education, and social service.
The YMCA wants to thank all the members of the Foundation Board along with Community Foundations of Southwest Iowa staff for their time and willingness to help administer this program to truly make impressive impacts with so many outstanding and wonderful programs in funding to many worthwhile organizations within our county.

Nick Zimmer, Executive Director of the Montgomery County Family YMCA recently announced the 2013 YMCA’s Gold Sponsorship now includes Parker Hannifin sponsorship gift of $3,000 through the Parker Hannifin Corporate Foundation program.
YMCA Round Table sponsors will be sponsoring several different 2013 YMCA events as Parker Hannifin will be involved with various sponsorships including: vinyl banners, Legion Park & Indoor Tennis Center banners, Red Oak youth wrestling, Golf Tournament, Endowment Gift, “Membership for Everyone/ Be Hero Annual campaign, youth sports program, winter swim team, summer day camp, along with other events and promotions.
