May Volunteer of the Month

Volunteer of the Month
Hannah Shalters
A smile can be infectious. If you don’t believe that, all you need to do is meet May volunteer of the month, Hannah Shalters.
Just ask any of the sixty-plus children who took part in the Spring Break Day Camp held at the YMCA in April.
Hannah, a soon to be sophomore at Red Oak High School helped out making snacks, supervised swimming and helped setup and tear down at the week long event.
“Hannah is a kind and generous person who always has a smile on her face,” said Aquatics Director Missy Stickland. “She is great with the children in day camp and is always there to pitch in when needed.”

Kiwanis TRYathalon Proceeds Donated
by Kristi Potts on 05/23/13

Pictured from left to right are Wayne Donohue, representing Friends of Red Oak Trail, Kim Truka of the Red Oak Kiwanis Club, and Missy Stickland, YMCA Aquatics Program Director.
The Red Oak Kiwanis Club presented a $400.00 check to Friends of Red Oak Trails and the Montgomery County Family YMCA on May 20, 2013. The organizations shared the proceeds from the 4th Annual Kiwanis TRYathalon held Saturday, April 20, 2013.
Over 40 participants took part in this year’s event that was designed to focus on health and wellness and instill participants with a “Yes I Can” attitude. The event consisted of a 200 yard swim, 6 mile bike ride and 2 mile run/walk.
The YMCA will invest the proceeds in its “Our Future is in Your Hands” Endowment Fund. The endowment fund is set up so that the interest earned off the fund is available to the YMCA to meet future maintenance needs of the facility.
Lockers & Heaters for Sale
by Kristi Potts on 05/23/13
ITEMS FOR SALE
We currently have available now 6 Qmark MUH104 Electric Unit heaters available, rarely used for $200 each or best offer.

This particular heater is designed for insulated garages, workshops, warehouses, and etc. It features10,000(34,100 BTU’s)watt at 480v/3ph with individually adjustable discharge louvers to control air flow; this is an advanced pull-through air flow design which draws air across the heating element for even air distribution and cooler element operation. It can be mounted either horizontally or vertically and has a specially designed venturi outlet to meet that added throw when placed in the vertical position. The heavy gauge die-formed steel housing with aluminum-finned, copper clad steel sheath heating element has longer useful life because of the cooler sheath temperature and faster heat dissipation. The fan motor is completely enclosed. It is durably built, yet lightweight with no extraneous piping flues, valves or traps.
The Qmark MUH104 meets all NEC, OSHA, and UL requirements as well as being UL listed.

In addition to the heaters we have 49 double-tier lockers and 50 box lockers which will be for sale at reasonable best offer on July, 2013 but the YMCA would reserve as many lockers as you needed for estimated July when our new lockers arrive at the YMCA. The lockers are grey and beige in color and the dimensions for the double-tier lockers are length-6ft., width and depth-12 in. and for the box lockers the length is 14 in., width and depth 12 in. These lockers are useful for storage and organization. They feature an all-metal design, ventilated panels to provide air-flow, and traditional padlock enclosure. Padlocks not included. The lockers are 13 years old so some moderate rust is present.
All items would be the purchaser’s responsibility to make arrangements to pick up the purchased item(s) at the YMCA. If you would like to purchase any of these items, please contact me at712-623-2161 ext. 13 or e-mail me at execdir@mcymca.com.
Sincerely,
Nick Zimmer
