Annual Campaign Update!

by Kristi Potts on 04/20/15

Montgomery County Family YMCA's 2015 Annual Campaign “The Y. So Much More”

2015 campaign goal is $55,000! These funds help support community & area needs!

Red Oak, Iowa, April, 2015 – The Montgomery County Family YMCA’s Annual Campaign, “The Y. So Much More.”  “We’re A Cause” Is designed so that everyone in Montgomery County and throughout the area has access to vital community/ area programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Every day, the Montgomery County Family YMCA works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community matters, such as fitness and healthy lifestyle for all ages, chronic health issues, school partnerships, and to serve as a center for social networking.

“Throughout Montgomery County, countless people know the “the Y”. But there’s so much more to our Y than one might think”, said Rudee DeMarce, YMCA Board of Director and chair of the 2015 Annual Campaign program. “The Y is more than a gym. It’s a cause. As a charity, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors.”

This year, the Montgomery County Family YMCA campaign goal is to raise $55,000 with over $30,000 received so far. We look forward to everyone’s support! Funds raised will support a wide range of activities from athletics to summer day camp. The Y doesn’t just strengthen bodies – it strengthens people, families and communities.

Year after year, charitable gifts from YMCA donors make it possible for kids to have a safe place to learn and build confidence after school; for families to reconnect and grow together; for members of the community of all ages, access to fitness education and training to reach their full potential.  DeMarce mentioned that donors will receive the wonderful satisfaction of knowing that they helped someone enjoy YMCA services that truly needs assistance to be involved with youth programming and to keep programs affordable for everyone to be able to participate in. The Montgomery County Family YMCA has had in place for 20 years the policy that “no one will be denied membership or programming opportunity due to financial limitations.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
SUEANN FRENCH

Almost every morning Sueann French comes to the YMCA to maintain her fitness health. She attends Early Morning Boot Camp, runs on the treadmill, lifts weights, and when not attending the Early Morning Boot Camp she joins a group of other YMCA members in the Jazzercise room to do an Insanity routine.

The activities she does at the Y help her to live actively outside of the Y. As a dedicated runner in events like the Dam to Dam Half-Marathon in Des Moines, Tree Run Half-Marathon Nebraska City,  and Market to Market Iowa to name a few, her consistent exercise routine has paid dividends. She is currently gearing up for The Gambler Half-Marathon in Council Bluffs.

Sueann is also a source of inspiration to the kids she coaches in High School Cross Country and was ecstatic when both the girls and boys teams made it to the State finals last year. She will also be coaching the Boys Track Team and is looking forward to it.

As she expressed in a recent e-mail, “I like the YMCA because it’s easy and fast. I love the new equipment and there is plenty of space to do my Insanity videos in the Jazzercise room.  The YMCA has all the equipment you need to get a great workout!!!“
