The Montgomery County Family YMCA Board of Directors back in 1998 had the wise vision to implement and develop an Endowment committee which later became a group of nine elected men and women that became trustees of the YMCA endowment fund for 3 year terms.

The YMCA endowment program is to build long-range stability for the Montgomery County Family YMCA. This is not an appeal for any funds now, but a request that you would consider including the YMCA in your long-range estate plans. By doing this now, the possible tax advantages to you can increase the value of your estate, enabling you to do much more than you ever dreamed possible. Montgomery County Family YMCA friends and patrons may contribute to the YMCA endowment fund program by several methods:

  • Make an outright gift of money, land, stock, insurance, copyrights, oil rights, letter stock or an individual fractional interest to the Endowment Fund of the Montgomery County Family YMCA

  • Make or revise a will directing a percentage, a fixed amount or through a contingency statement, an eventual gift to the Montgomery County Family YMCA Endowment Fund.

  • Name the Montgomery County Family YMCA Endowment Fund as a primary or secondary beneficiary of an insurance policy.

There is no "minimum requirement" as to the gift's size or amount. The YMCA's Endowment Fund gives everyone the opportunity that wishes to perpetuate the good work of the Montgomery County Family YMCA.

Download this helpful PDF to guide you and your legal advisers when it comes to planning your will and including the YMCA.

A message from our Executive Director, John Blomstedt:

    Hello YMCA friends!

The American Taxpayer Relief Act on was passed on January 2nd, 2013 which included the IRA Charitable Rollover. This bill restores the IRA Charitable Rollover and permits its use in all of 2013. The IRS uses the term "qualified charitable distribution" to describe an IRA charitable rollover. A qualified charitable distribution is money that individuals who are 70½ or older may direct from their traditional IRA to eligible charitable organizations. The provision has a cap of $100,000 for charitable distributions from individual IRAs each year. Individuals may exclude the amount distributed directly to an eligible charity from their gross income.
Please contact your IRA Custodian or your financial adviser for the more information regarding the specific details on this wonderful opportunity to make charitable gifts and save on additional taxes. Distributions to the Montgomery County Family YMCA Endowment funds must come directly from your IRA Custodian to be excluded from your income.
Please feel free to contact the Montgomery County Family YMCA and ask for John Blomstedt, Executive Director of the YMCA if you would like to participate in this unique way to save on taxes and donate to your favorite organization, the Montgomery County Family YMCA! Nick can be reached at 712-623-2161 Ext: #13 or email Nick at execdir@mcymca.com.
