13th Annual YMCA Birthday Week
Montgomery County Family YMCA experienced a Very Successful week.
The Montgomery County Family YMCA’s 13th Annual Birthday Week at Legion Park in Red Oak, Iowa kicked off with the Red Oak Chamber & Industry Association Coffee on Wednesday October 16th, 2013. Many people came and helped us celebrate the 13th annual YMCA birthday week, October 21st-27th, 2013.
Various Events Took Place Including:
Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013, The Red Oak Optimist’s Club brought their very popular Bounce House for many children to enjoy at the Wilson YMCA Gymnasium.
Thursday, October 24th, 2013, Houghton State Bank of Red Oak, Iowa sponsored a fun-filled bingo event at the YMCA. There were a number of wonderful prizes for the lucky winners. Coffee and light refreshments were provided.
Sunday, October 27th, The YMCA’s 4th Annual Mystery Drop took place at the Montgomery County Fair Show Area. A luncheon at noon, music, and fellowship culminated with the infamous “drop” on Dr. William & Christie Butz’s square by a goat belonging to Scott & Gayle Allensworth/family. The Butz family then donated the $5,000 to the Free Clinic of Southwest Iowa. Two drawings for $200 Y bucks were won by: Farm Credit Services America employees of Red Oak and Kent Marsden and Derrick Bucy.
The YMCA Conducted Member-Only Drawings During the Dates of October 21st—26th(Winners were):
- Monday - Linda Clark won the YMCA polo shirt, Dawn LeRette won the YMCA adult t-shirt, and Reese Jackson and Ryker Connelll won youth t-shirts.
- Tuesday - Hy-Vee gift card winner was Vern Olson.
- Wednesday - Fareway gift card winner was Darryan Wright.
- Thursday - Red Oak Chamber & Industry Association Chamber bucks winner was Paul Vandrey.
- Friday - college fan gifts were won by Roger Brown - Iowa, Tom Burkhiser- Iowa State, & Angie Hayes-Nebraska. Gifts were donated by Shirley Billings, YMCA Board President.
- Saturday - YMCA birthday cups(5) were won by Val Jensen & the Grand Theater Ticket Package was won by Sue Stephens.
