ANNUAL CAMPAIGN 2014
The Y. So Much More.
Montgomery County Family YMCA 2013 Annual Campaign Chair Rudee DeMarce of Red Oak, Iowa and who also serves on the Montgomery County Family YMCA’s board of directors announced that the YMCA in 2013 was able raise a record $56,600 for the YMCA’s 2013 Annual Campaign program. DeMarce shared the annual campaign funds assist the Montgomery County Family YMCA’s 19 year old policy that “No one is denied membership or pro-gram opportunities“ if experiencing financial limitations. DeMarce also shared that annual campaign funds assist the Montgomery County Family YMCA in servicing our community and area with fitness, youth programs, swimming, recreation, child education, older active adult programming and much more.
DeMarce indicated that the 2014 Annual Campaign theme is “The Y. So Much More.” The campaign goal has been set at $56,000 and the campaign volunteer team will be preparing to conduct the annual campaign in mid March 2014 to late April, 2014!
The Y is more than a gym. It’s a cause. As a charity, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors. The Y has a long history of strengthening community because we are a part of the communities we serve. We are a powerful association of men, women, and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility.
EVERY GIFT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. EVERYONE HAS A ROLE TO PLAY.
The Y is one of the Nation’s leading nonprofits for strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. All contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

STEPHEN BERSCHEID
Stephen Berscheid of Emerson, Iowa has been coming to the Y diligently with his daughter, Stephanie Miller, for the last 6 months and the difference is evident. In an e-mail to the Y Stephanie related his story of recovery. “After my father’s stroke in November of 2011, his extended hospital stay, and over a year of physical and occupational therapies, he was looking for a way to stay on track with his recovery.
As his therapies were coming to an end in May of 2013, his physical
therapist recommended the YMCA. My father had never been a “gym”
person but decided to give it a try. The Y has been a fantastic outlet
for him. Using the walking track and the weightlifting equipment has
allowed him to improve his strength, endurance, and flexibility. His
quality of life has much improved. The YMCA provides a safe, controlled,
clean, and friendly environment for my father to continue his
recovery. For anyone who has never considered themselves a “gym”
person, please allow the YMCA to change your mind. On behalf of my
parents and myself, ‘Thank you.’”
