MEMO

November 20, 2020

TO: YMCA members, guests and staff
FROM:  John Blomstedt, Executive Director
RE: Montgomery County Family YMCA Mask Policy

After much consideration, the Montgomery County Family YMCA Board of Directors has unanimously approved implementation of a mask mandate within the YMCA facility beginning Monday, November 23rd, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.

All members, guests and staff ages 2 and above will be required to wear a face covering over their mouth and nose at all times while in the YMCA facility.

Face coverings will not be required if the individual:
is engaged in physical activity including cardiovascular exercise, weightlifting, playing basketball, tennis, racquetball, while swimming or during fitness classes.
has received medical exemption from wearing a face covering.

Face masks will be available upon request at the YMCA front desk.  If, upon being asked to wear a face covering by YMCA staff, the individual refuses, he or she will be asked to leave the facility.

This and other YMCA policies regarding COVID-19 are under careful and continuous review and will be relaxed or enhanced depending upon the circumstances within the community surrounding COVID-19.
