Rotary Club Can Drive Donation

by Kristi Potts on 08/18/16

Montgomery County Family YMCA Press Release (Red Oak, Iowa)
August, 2016

The Montgomery County Family YMCA and the Red Oak Rotary Club continue to strengthen their partnership together with their tremendous support of the YMCA. The Rotary Club made a recent donation of $1,140 through our 80% share of the can/bottle program coordinated by the efforts of the YMCA for the month of July. This is through the programming efforts with the Red Oak Rotary Club and Red Oak Optimist Club can/bottle shed just southeast of the Fareway Grocery Store in Red Oak. The Rotary Club earned $318 for the month of July.  The Rotary Club will use their portion of the money to assist with high school senior scholarships to higher education awards, and community, area, national and word-wide projects to make our world a better place to live, work, and play in.

All proceeds will be placed into the YMCA’s The Y. “For a better us” annual campaign funds. These funds are used to assist local, county, and area residents that are experiencing financial limitations who otherwise might not be able to become members of the Y. With this generous donation our annual campaign program is now up to almost $46,000 with a goal of $58,000.

The Montgomery County Family YMCA and Red Oak Rotary Club are proud to work together towards making Red Oak and the surrounding area a better place to live and work in. We value their annual support with this project and the Y will be looking forward to doing this project again next July, 2017.

To learn more about how one can become a Red Oak Rotarian, simply come to a Tuesday noon meeting at the Red Coach Inn and Restaurant located at 1200 Senate Avenue on Highway 34 in Red Oak.  You are always welcome!

One can also contact Co-Membership Directors of the Red Oak Rotary Club Nick Zimmer at the Montgomery County Family YMCA at 712-623-2161 ext. #13 or Chris Amos at Rubey Realty & Auction in Red Oak at 712-623-2724 to receive more information about all that the Red Oak Rotary Club is dedicated to doing for the Red Oak Community, area, region, United States and world.

The Montgomery County Family YMCA’s Four Person Best Ball Golf Tournament will take place on Saturday,  September 17th, 2016 at 9 a.m. at the beautiful Red Oak Country Club in Red Oak, Iowa.  One can form their team now, consider volunteering at the event, become a hole sponsor or door prize/flag prize donor towards this fun-filled fall event. All proceeds will benefit the YMCA’s The Y. “For a better us” annual campaign program.

For more information on the Annual Campaign or how you can become a member or volunteer, please call Nick Zimmer, YMCA Executive Director at 712-623-2161, stop in at the Montgomery County Family YMCA located at the beautiful Red Oak Legion Park, 101 East Cherry Street, Red Oak, Iowa, or email Nick at execdir@mcymca.com.
