YMCA Corner
by Kristi Potts on 08/30/16
On Sunday, August 28th, Faith Community Church had one church service at 9 am and then the congregation broke up into different groups to volunteer around Red Oak as part of the Love Thy Neighborhood project.
We appreciate all the hard work at Montgomery County Family YMCA done by the group led by Steve & Sheryl Bruning that consisted of Vicki Maschka; Donna Woodfill; Diane Adkisson; Michael Johnson; Riley, Dyan, Jackson, and Sawyer Perdue; Justin and Sarah Umlandt; and Jonathan, Anne, Ethan and Beth Stewart on Sunday, August 28th.
The men took care of the two mulch areas near the Red Oak Fire station – Legion Park Pillar entrances and dug out the bushes on both sides, mowed the Sports Complex Flag Football Field, swept the middle of the YMCA parking lot, and walked the entire property and grounds to pick up trash, sticks and pull large weeds.
The women and kids wiped down the machinery in the Health/Wellness Center, dusted the track rails around the entire track, Health/Wellness area, window ledges, etc., cleaned the lockers and benches in the special needs, women’s, and men’s locker rooms, vacuumed the tennis center viewing area, the main hallway, and lobby, swept behind the curtains on the south runway area and the east wall of the Carder Tennis Center, and picked up trash in the tennis center viewing area.
The
YMCA can only thank Faith Community Church for leading this project for
organizations like the YMCA and others in our community.
