YMCA of the Rockies Winner!

The Montgomery County Family YMCA (Red Oak, Iowa) and the YMCA of the Rockies recently teamed up for raffle drawing of Friday, July 26th, 2013 to benefit the YMCA’s 2013 YMCA’s Annual Campaign “Be A Hero” program. Diana Deakin Thomas from Mississauga, Canada won a two free night stay in a two bedroom cabin at either the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch or the YMCA of the Rockies - Estes Park Center in Estes Park, Colorado.  The YMCA was able to raise just under $200 for the YMCA’s Annual Campaign program through the donation and partnership of the YMCA of the Rockies!

All proceeds benefited the YMCA’s Annual Campaign program so that “No One is Denied “the opportunity to participate in YMCA programs or become a YMCA member due to financial limitations. The Y’s annual campaign with the theme of “Be A Hero” program is designed to assist the YMCA to offer countless youth programs, from summer day camp to progressive swimming lessons to various youth sports programs at a very affordable cost for all children to be able to participate in.

The YMCA has set a campaign goal of $51,000 of which the campaign has raised $46,000 under the outstanding leadership of campaign chair Rudee DeMarce of Red Oak, Iowa.

In July, area and community residents could drop off their empty cans and bottles just north of the Fareway Grocery and with the aid of the Red Oak Rotary Club the YMCA earned 80% of the cans and bottles collected for July. The YMCA was able to raise over $800.00 from the Rotary can/bottle program for the month of July.

The YMCA is preparing for its annual fall golf 2013 four person best ball golf tournament to take place on Saturday, September 28th, 2013 at 9 a.m. at the Red Oak Country Club with a shot gun start. New this year there will be a hole-in-one contest to win a 2013 Dodge Dart sponsored by Red Oak Chrysler Dodge Jeep for tournament golfers. The first tournament golfer making a hole –in-one on hole # 4 would win the 2013 Dodge Dart.
