Area Leadership Breakfast
by Kristi Potts on 09/18/15
FOR IMMEDIATE MEDIA
RELEASE
Friday, September 18th,
2015
On the morning of Wednesday, September 9th the Montgomery County Family YMCA held a successful community/county/area leader’s breakfast at the YMCA’s multi-purpose room with over 65 leaders attending this important program.
It was shared at the breakfast the process of determining the YMCA’s focus and the importance of the desired community/area impact the YMCA will have over the next several years. This process will require assistance from the community/area as a whole to help the YMCA to expand its role as a leading cause-driven organization in our area.
The insights gained at the community leader’s breakfast were very important to this process. The YMCA plans to follow up with a written report from the input received at the breakfast plus the results from the nearly 300 Community Needs Assessment surveys completed during August. This report will be available later this fall or early winter.

County Family YMCA Press Release
September,
2015
The Montgomery County Family YMCA would like to thank Dave & Sharron Howes for the donation of a new handrail for the Wilson Aquatics Center which will assist all of our patrons in using the center for fun and exercise.
Dave & Sharron Howes are long-time and dedicated Montgomery County Family YMCA members who donated the $509 needed for the new handrail because they felt it was another nice safety feature needed for all ages to use. Dave and Sharron have been members and volunteered in many roles. Sharron has worked at the YMCA as a part-time membership/marketing assistant and served on the board of directors and is currently enjoying the water exercise class program. Dave and Sharron have shared a passion for the YMCA since they first got involved in its inception in Red Oak over 20 years ago.
The new handrail was installed on Tuesday, September 1st in the Wilson Aquatic Center and will be a welcome addition for the many classes, physical therapy sessions, swim meets, and group and private swim lessons in the pool.

July 2015 Survey extended need 350 surveys completed – have over 100! Now till Monday, August 17th, 2015
RE: Community Needs Assessment Survey
The Montgomery County Family YMCA, Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Montgomery County Public Health, the Viking Center of Stanton, Red Oak Community School District, Stanton Community School District, Southwest Valley School District and various county businesses realize that strengthening our community is our common cause. We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.
The above listed organizations are joining together to conduct a community needs assessment. Based on this community needs assessment, we will work to design and deliver new programs and services that address critical issues in the areas of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We will be making the community needs assessment survey available both in an on-line form and a hard copy form.
Responses are not individually tracked and are kept confidential. The assessment should take approximately 5 minutes to complete and the results will be compiled into a summary that will be shared with the community partners.
The survey was activated online on Monday, July 13 and will be available through Monday August 17th, 2015. Survey’s will be available in a hard copy form at the Montgomery County Family YMCA, Montgomery County Memorial Hospital and Montgomery County Public Health booths. There will also be available hard copy forms available at the Viking Center in Stanton.
