The Montgomery County Family YMCA held its Mystery Drop on Sunday, October 18th, 2015 at 12:30 pm with the “The Big Drop” taking place at 1 p.m. at the Montgomery County Fair Main Grandstand Arena.  For the second year the events major sponsor was Johnson Helicopter Services of the Red Oak/ Emerson, Iowa area. JHS provided the helicopter to drop several tennis balls amongst which was a multi-color money ball. All 300 tickets sold out for a record 4th year for a chance to win $5,000 and if present another $500 was available to the winner(s).

The event will clear $22,000  to assist the YMCA with endowment funding, general operational funding, and some capital improvement needs at the YMCA such as the LED tennis lighting and blended tennis court painting to assist the Junior / Family Tennis program.

The YMCA would like to thank all our sales volunteer team members for making this fun-filled event to raise funds for the YMCA possible and to our YMCA staff and accounting department for all of their work this past month in keeping track of ticket sales as well as set up work for the event. A special thank you to Johnson Helicopter Service, YMCA Auxiliary Club (for the great refreshments), the Montgomery County Fair Board for the usage of their fine facilities, all the people that purchased tickets for this event, the City of Red Oak in working with us on the flight of the helicopter in the community, KCSI and the Red Oak Express for their promotional efforts of this event, Greg Brower our DJ  and public announcer for this event, and Darold and Bev Swanson of Red Oak for their wonderful donations of some of their grandson Jeffrey Hanson’s world-wide famous artwork thank you notes and a autograph book about Jeffery and the Hanson family titled “Lessons from CLOD”.

This year’s winning ticket was a split ticket between Promotional Concepts of Red Oak (staff) and Tom & Ann Iverson of Red Oak. Promotional Concepts ticket members were: Mike Lamb, Sandy Taylor, Barb Michael, Amy Elwood (Villisca, IA), Missy Torbett.  Since Barb Michael was at the event there to represent her team members the Promotional Concept Staff members earned an additional $500, thus their share was $3,000.  The Iverson’s received $2,500 and donated all of their winnings back to the YMCA!
