Boys Baseball to Return
by Kristi Potts on 06/05/20
The YMCA is offering baseball for boys in grades 1st - 2nd. The season will run from approximately mid–June through the end of July. Practices will be held at least once a week (usually in late afternoon hours) and on weekends. There will be no out-of-town games or games against other out of town teams. Players would need to have their own glove, cleats, hats, and other related equipment. There will be no sharing of equipment.
If your child was previously signed up prior to suspension in mid-March there is no need to sign up again. If you signed up previously, but now do not want your child to participate you can call the YMCA and ask for a refund of your fee.
Parents will need to sign a specific Covid-19 consent and waiver of liability form for their child's participation. A required parents meeting (via Zoom) will be held prior to the start of the season.

Things to Know Before Returning

Deep Cleaning to Commence Before Reopening
by Kristi Potts on 04/30/20
YMCA members,
I just want to remind everyone that the Montgomery County Family YMCA will not be reopening tomorrow, Friday, May 1. To be mindful of our members safety, Y staff will start the final deep cleaning of the facility next week after the completion of the gym floor refurbishment project. The final step of our cleaning process will be a fogging of the facility to ensure the safest environment for you on your return.
As mentioned in the communication sent out earlier this week, the Y will reopen to Members Only on Monday, May 11. Please know that there will be restrictions in place with the reopening. Details of the reopening procedures will be released next week. As always, any questions or concerns can be directed to me at either johnb@mcymca.com or by calling the Y at 712-623-2161. The Y staff looks forward to seeing you again.

Aiming to Reopen May 11th with Social Distancing
by Kristi Potts on 04/28/20
April 28, 2020
YMCA Members, Supporters, Donors, Volunteers and Friends,
As you may or may not have heard, Governor Reynolds in her Monday news conference has granted fitness clubs, the category that the Montgomery County Family YMCA fits into, to open with restrictions on Friday, May 1. Also, in the proclamation that she signed on Monday was the statement that pools & spas (whirlpools) are to remain closed for the time being.
I will be meeting with the YMCA’s management staff to plan our reopening strategy. When we reopen, we will be doing it in the safest possible way for our members and YMCA staff. A new “normal” will exist within the YMCA facility in how we operate and interact with our members. There will be limitations on what areas of the YMCA are open, plus a limit of participants in exercise classes to maintain social distancing.
The YMCA board of directors discussed at their April meeting to aim for a Monday, May 11 opening date. Please know that we will do our best to make that happen.
Remember that the May 1 draft of monthly membership fees will go forward as mentioned in a prior communication. As a non-profit charitable organization, your monthly payment during this time can be converted to a charitable donation for tax purposes to the YMCA’s “Comeback Fund’. We can issue you a receipt upon reopening of the facility. Also, if you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact me at johnb@mcymca.com or by phone at (712) 623-2161 to discuss the matter.
I will do my best to continue to communicate with you regarding the progress that the staff makes in getting the YMCA ready for reopening.
Please Stay Safe!
Sincerely,
John Blomstedt
